The gaffer’s lookin worrit for the flatts are in a steer,
Jessie Brodie’s gettin marrit an’ the morra she’ll no be here.

The helper an’ the piecer they went doon the toon last nicht
To buy a wee bit present just to make her hame look bricht.

A bonny coloured carpet, a kettle an’ a pot.

The spinners they’re a singin, the shifters dancin tae,
The gaffer’s standin watchin but there’s naethin he can dae.

Nay ye aye hae fu’ an’ plenty in your wee bit hame.
